Mississippi

My parents are moving to Mississippi. They are selling their home in Southlake. Here's the listing on realtor.com.

It's going to be hard for us kids living in the area to adjust to them moving. We've known it was coming for a while but now it's actually happening.

Allstate Family Event

It's just been a performing month for me. Here are pictures from the Allstate Family Talent Showcase this past weekend. The first group is the Accounting choir performing "Consider Yourself" from Oliver complete with British accent & street urchin attire. It actually went pretty well. Next is my friend Jack and I performing "What I've Been Looking For" from High School Musical complete with blonde wig. The music and mic volume were messed up so I wasn't as excited about the end result of it! It shouldn't have really mattered because it was just a few co-workers and their kids, but I was kinda bummed.

Guess who's got . . .

a sinus infection, double ear infection & shot in the bum?! That's right - me! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. The good news is that the doctor says if I don't share saliva with anyone, no one else should catch anything from me! (Sorry honey!)

Facebook

I set up a Facebook account tonight. Mostly so I can bug my siblings and my dad. I was hoping to find some contacts from Sacramento where we lived when I was 10-15. There are a couple of girls in my Young Women who were my very good friends that I would love to communicate with again. If you have an account, I'd love to be "Friends".

Obsess Much?

So here it is my first blog post ever.

I love my wife.

Now that I've said all that I really have to say, I'll show off some of my great collection at home.
This first picture is of my new Viper sign and display. The sign is custom routed woodwork and the black rack I made from junk in our garage. There's a classic viper, viper mark II, two mark VII's and a raptor. The guy standing there is Apollo in his flightsuit.

This next on is to really show off the cool Rebel logo we got. Susan's already posted stuff about the Star Wars collection.

The miracle of the Internet. You are obligated to read about me.

Happy birthday to me!

What an amazing birthday! I go to work and find this on my desk waiting for me!

The choir sings to me, I get gifts from my very good friends at work then my mother calls and invites us to dinner for my favorite - runzas! It was a birthday miracle. So we go to dinner and pretty much the whole family is there. I get to see Ainsley (who totally knows my name) after her first day of school and I get to see Tyler (though he's bummed that I can't stay and play Star Wars).

So after an amazing dinner, I get to rehearsal a little bit late and I find this waiting for me!

My sister made me birthday brownies and my best bud forever Joni made me cupcakes to share with the rest of the cast. Then Randall, Lori & kids call and sing happy birthday while I'm at rehearsal and that was delightful! So wish they were closer.

I took a bunch of pics tonight but I'm only posting this one for now.

Oh and here's a fantastic pic of the whole Squires family. (l to r: Pa (Jacey), Stacey, Lacey, Casey, Tracey, Macey, Ma)

And here are my beautiful daughters. (I'm going to be so sad when the show is over and they aren't my daughters anymore!)

30 Million and One

My birthday is in 3 days. My sister says I'll be 30 million and one. Woo hoo.

I've been thinking about it and I've been through quite a bit in my 31 years of life. Lots of really good stuff and lots of really hard stuff. I've been married & divorced and married again (for reals this time). I've had lots of callings in the church: RS Enrichment counselor, RS Education counselor, YW first counselor, YW president, Mia Maid adviser, Gospel Doctrine teacher, ward music chairperson, ward choir director, primary teacher, Enrichment leader & various Yw camp assignments to name a few. I've moved around quite a bit & had lots of interesting experiences in lots of locations. As an adult I've taken dance classes & auditioned for community theater. I went from a dog hater to a dog mommy. I've been employed at a company for 10 years. At that company I've directed a choir, performed in skits, participated in service events & book studies, helped create hobby groups, worked on many teams under many managers, and worked up from a file clerk to a trusted team lead. I've developed a taste for lettuce and tomato on my hamburgers.

I'm excited and grateful for another birthday and for all the experiences that I've been blessed with.

MM Update

Can you tell that I'm really getting a lot of satisfaction out of this musical that I'm in? Cuz I definitely am! Here are some pics that Michael (one of my absolute favorites of all time who is playing Marcellus) took during various rehearsals. Bob (playing my husband Jacey) & I had a lot of fun with our kids in the play deciding info about our family: The kids call us Ma & Pa and Pa owes the Livery Stables. We have 6 horses and 2 dogs - a german shepherd and a miniature poodle. The kids names are Stacey, Lacey, Casey, Tracey & Macey. (Casey is the son - he plays the clarinet in the band). Oh and the delightful part was when they asked if we could all dress in the same color. Today's color was purple. I mostly got up, threw on clothes and left so I look a little scroungy. Here are pics of the kids taken sometime last week. I should have taken them today when we were all in purple.

Here's Stacey,

Lacey,

Macey, & Tracey

Somehow I didn't manage to get one of Casey.

Oh the other exciting thing is that my sister Allison is home for the summer and she'll be playing my double. Today was her first practice. We make pretty good doubles. In fact, when I was looking a pics from today's rehearsal I mistook one of her as me.

This one in fact - in the back in the middle. Then I realized the hair looked too good and the shirt wasn't purple.

Me & Bob & Allison & Chris (That purple shirt really looks like a tent on me.)

Me, Allison, & Joni posing for It's You.

The most ironic part of this whole play business is that my motivation was to have something fun to do with Joni. Now we see each other practically every day and I feel like I talk to her even less than before the play. This week we chose a day to get there early, go get snowcones and just talk. It was great!

Most amazing husband ever!

So get this - my sweet hubby wakes up early this morning and makes us breakfast, leads us in scripture study and makes my lunch. What a great start to the day! But it gets better. . . It's lunchtime and I open my lunchbox (blue plastic with Hot Wheels on the front) and I find a blt on homemade bread, carrot sticks, broccoli and a banana. Wow. I feel really blessed to be married to my perfect match. He's the Han Solo to my Leia.

Music Man rehearsal update

You will be very excited to find out that I (Mrs. Squires) now have two lines in the Music Man. And I've learned pieces of 4 choreographed numbers (Wan Tan Ye girls, Grecian Urns, It's You, & Shipoopi) Don't worry Joni - It's You isn't too difficult. And I have at least 5 other choreographed pieces that I'll be in as well. (Pick-a-Little, Iowa Stubborn, Wells Fargo Wagon, Seventy-Six Trombones & Trouble)

Oh and I'm excited, yes excited about the costumes. I get to be in practice bloomers and a toga and feather hats and an indian costume. It's just delightful, I say delightful.
