Star Wars and a birthday boy

This weekend was full and fun! Saturday we went to the Star Wars exhibit at the museum. It was crazy busy and a little pricey but we had a great time. We got to the museum at 2:45 and stood in line for 30 minutes to get our time stamped tickets to enter the exhibit at 5:30. We had a couple hours to fill so we went to DQ and to the Cowgirl museum. Unfortunately the battery in my camera died so I didn't get many pictures of the actual exhibit. But I got some great pics on the turtle outside.

Sunday we celebrated Tyler's 4th birthday. He was so excited. It was so much fun. My favorite part was when he opened the gift from my parents and exclaimed, "A movie. . ." then turned it over "about Jesus!" He really is quite a cutie. My niece Ainsley was way cute too. She had a great time with the party blower. I love being an aunt.

Amazing day of friends!

I had the greatest friend day today! I got to drive to work with my best friend Richard, I got to be excited about the Allstate Accounting choir with my dear friend Rashel, I had the best email chain in ages with my eternal friends Beth, Mandy and Stef, and I got to eat lunch with my best twin Allison, I talked on the phone with my delightful friend (& mother) Teresa and I got some quality face time with my BBF Joni. How lucky can one woman get?! Now I just need to get all my friends on the blogging bus with me so I can stay better connected!

I'm tired as all get out and just hoping for a good night's sleep tonight because Saturday morming we'll be getting up early to have a yard sale. Sigh.

I wonder how my dear Dr. Dad is doing after his first day teaching at the University of Southern Mississippi...? I bet he did great!

Done with reality shows for awhile

Well, we watched the finale of America's Got Talent tonight. It was mostly lame (especially the performance by David Hasselhoff). But the ventriloquist guy Terry Fator won and that was cool. Terry Fator did a duet with Kermit the Frog and that was really neat.

The thing I dislike about these reality shows is the way they mess with the finalists minds. They do that on American Idol and it just makes me mad. "And the next person to be kicked off the show is . . . Bob.....'s competitor Fred." "And the winner is . . .coming up after the break." It's just not right. I like how So You Think You Can Dance they just get on with it. "Lacey's not in the top 2." "Sabra wins." Nice and easy - no mind games.

Now that this show is over, we can go back to no tv on week nights.

But I really want it...

So we found this cool vintage store that sells records and old clothes and collectable junk and I really want this couch, table & chair set. Doesn't it just remind you of the Jetsons?

On to serious matters...

Now that I have the So You Think You Can Dance post out of the way... I can move on to different things. We participated in the youth temple trip tonight. Only 7 of my young women were able to go. As we drove home I realized what a crummy example I am. Instead of being focused on the purpose of our trip, I sure was talking about High School Musical 2 in the dressing room. Wow that's pathetic. I just wonder what these girls think of their flaky leader. I've got to get myself put together so I can be the leader that they need me to be. It's so discouraging to recognize my weaknesses. Kinda makes me want to quit. sigh.

On a lighter note, my dear friend Joni and I are going to take a dance class together next month. That's right it'll be tap dancing. From what I hear, she's quite the dancer and I'll probably pale in comparison. But that's totally fine by me. I just feel sorry for the teacher. She'll never know what hit her.

Sabra won!

Okay I guess I'm done with So You Think You Can Dance for a while. I was delighted to see Danny and Sabra as our final two and even more excited to see Sabra win. I wish we could've seen more of Danny and Sabra partnering (they only partnered once). I was much happier with this two hour finale than with yesterday's two hour finale. It was really neat seeing the dancers relax and really have fun dancing. My only disappointment? They didn't showcase the manequin number again.

Guilty Pleasure? America's Got Talent

Okay so I'm a little stuck on reality television lately. Between So You Think You Can Dance and America's Got Talent - I'm a little pathetic. These are the only television shows that I watch so I guess I've conviced myself that it's okay. I am only slightly embarrassed to admit that I did try to vote one night for the ventriloquist. It was kinda a pain in the neck though. Gotta be honest with you - I hate that the 14 year old girl is in the top 4. I want either the puppet master or the reggae singer to win. They would both make good stories and they are both really entertaining.

Pasha and Lauren are not in the finale. I'm not surprised about Lauren but I sure am surprised about Pasha. I've been thinking about it and I'm convinced it's because Neil is better looking. The primary voters are teeny bopper girls. The look of shock of Neil's face was priceless. Nevertheless, I think the final 4 are a good choice.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

I couldn't remember the username that I set up for the blog so I wasn't able to make any updates for a while. But I figured it out tonight. Yay for me! I think I'll use my blog as a journal of sorts. I don't think there will be many checking it out so we'll see how it goes. :o)

Today's been a great day. It was our last Sunday dinner with Dad for a while. He'll start commuting back and forth from Missippi this week. (He'll be teaching at the University of Southern Missippi.) All the local family members came and we have a lovely fondue evening.

The boys talked cars (Brad's 3000GT, Jonathan's RX8, Richard's Challenger). The girls played with the kids. It was good times.
